High-profile patrons, presentations and discussions on the mobility of tomorrow: The 30th Eurobike becomes political and powers the bicycle forward

Friedrichshafen/Frankfurt – On its 30th anniversary in Frankfurt, Eurobike meets the aspiration of being the leading innovation showcase for the future of mobility. On the opening day of the new Eurobike Convention, discussion panels and presentations with leading figures took place which will drive forward the mobility revolution from the perspective of the bicycle. VIP guests and patronage of high-ranking politicians from the urban, state and federal governments underscore this aspiration and mark the start of a new era for the flagship global trade fair. Eurobike is becoming political and the bicycle an indispensable part of the mobility revolution.

This year, Dr. Volker Wissing, Federal Minister for Digital and Transport, will take over the patronage of Eurobike and his attendance in Frankfurt is already a firm date in his diary. On the first day of the trade fair (July 13), the minister will be giving the keynote at the Eurobike Convention in the afternoon.

Leading policymakers were among the many supporters flocking to the new trade fair location in Frankfurt. The City of Frankfurt and First Mayor Peter Feldmann, for instance, also pledged their patronage.

Tarek Al-Wazir is also one of the patrons behind the flagship trade fair. Support for the event from the Hessian Minister for Economics, Energy, Transport and Housing, who has already added his visit to his schedule, plugs the gap between municipal and federal levels. The strong political interest and high-ranking participation in Eurobike underline the importance of the new trade fair platform. The move to Frankfurt is more than just a change of venue – bicycle and light electric mobility are the frontline issues and are now rightly in the spotlight of the traditional mobility metropolis.

"What belongs together will come together in July 2022: Leading policymakers, strong content and industry decision-makers from all over the world – meeting face-to-face again for the first time after two years of the pandemic. The biggest Eurobike ever in Frankfurt, the mobility hub – a real hit," says Stefan Reisinger, Managing Director of fairnamic GmbH.

Eurobike Convention: Big strides toward the transport revolution

The new Eurobike Convention kicks off the trade fair theme on day one. Integrated into Future Mobility in Hall 8, topics and speakers on transport policy, planning and personal issues set the agenda. Representatives from government, administration, business, science and civil society will gather under the motto "Designing the future of mobility". Ensuring that society makes more extensive use of e-bikes, bicycles and light electric vehicles (LEVs) will take a seamless, safe and easy-to-use infrastructure. Besides the structural and organizational requirements for a "city of short distances", sustainable modes of transport and cultural support are required.

The Eurobike Convention is divided into three thematic areas: PLANNED mobility, BUSINESS mobility and INTEGRATED mobility. "In the three main themes of the Eurobike Convention, we want to offer an optimal balance between the search for bold visions and practical solutions. All stakeholders share the same objective of promoting cycling. New formats should allow us to move beyond simply sharing technical information and enable us to get those involved to cooperate more effectively and pull together. Think of it as technical translation work that allows us to implement solutions faster," says Isabell Eberlein, Managing Director of velokonzept in Berlin, the agency in charge of the content format behind the Eurobike Convention.

The Eurobike Convention program will run on three parallel stages in the Future Mobility Forum in Hall 8 on July 13 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. More than 300 exhibitors on over 30,000 square meters will be presenting solutions for future urban mobility in Hall 8.

The 30th Eurobike is open from Wednesday, July 13 to Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Public days: Saturday and Sunday. For more information, go to: www.eurobike.com.
