From slopestyle to mobility congress: International athletes, keynote speakers and politicians to appear at Eurobike in Frankfurt, July 13–17

Frankfurt – Cycling legends and mobility experts in one place: Now that Eurobike has changed its address, the eyes of the cycling world are on Frankfurt and the new edition of the leading international trade fair from July 13 to 17, 2022. The extensive congress agenda and the Festival Days in the metropolis will shine even brighter thanks to the presence of numerous celebrities from the world of cycling: "Eurobike is the global interface between the cycling industry and the community. We look forward to welcoming prominent guests from politics, science and the mobility sector as well as international sports superstars to Frankfurt in July," says Stefan Reisinger, managing director at fairnamic and head of Eurobike.

"From cycling to mobility": The Eurobike motto underlines the bicycle's role in the transport revolution. With its move to the big city and the Eurobike Convention scheduled for the opening day, the leading trade fair gains a stronger political foothold and offers a platform for interdisciplinary exchange with players from the world of politics, administration, science and civil society. Among them are also political heavyweights: "More cycling means more progress," says Dr. Volker Wissing, Federal Minister for Digital and Transport, and Eurobike patron. The Hessian Minister of Economics, Energy, Transport and Housing Tarek Al-Wazir adds: "Our goal is to make cycling easier. For this to happen, we need real changes in the mobility sector and common ideas that would accelerate this development."

Mobility and urban planning

Mobility expert, consultant and author Janette Sadik-Khan is a luminary in the field of transport and urban transformation. During her six-year tenure as Commissioner of the New York City Department of Transportation, she was responsible for the construction of over 600 km of new bike paths and seven rapid bus routes as well as the introduction of a sharing system with twelve thousand rental bikes. In her keynote speech at the Eurobike Convention, Janette Sadik-Khan will explain how people-focused spatial and urban planning can be achieved if all stakeholders pull together to reallocate the space – and what role cycling plays in that regard. In addition to the New Yorker, other prominent guests, such as Federal Minister Dr. Volker Wissing and communications expert Katja Diehl, will also deliver keynotes at the Eurobike Convention.

Action on two wheels

Smooth riding and adrenaline in the veins: This year, the slopestyle world elite will be dropping in for Eurobike to show off some high-flying moves at the Eurobike Skyline Ride. Led by Emil Johansson, Swedish slopestyle star and reigning FMB World Champion, and Germany's Erik Fedko, the current world No. 3 in the FMB Rankings, the pros Sam Pilgrim, Tomas Lemoine, Thomas Genon, Alejandro Bonafe and other top athletes will put on a spectacular show on their bikes, as they conquer the dirt trail peppered with jumps.

Danny MacAskill and his international crew will also be in the spotlight: As part of their legendary Drop and Roll Tour, the charmingly affable bikers will demonstrate their technical ingenuity and wow the audience with daring stunts and tricks involving ramps, fences, and the infamous gymnastics ball.

Bicycle legends and top athletes

Among the announced celebrity guests are also living legends such as Gary Fisher. As one of the inventors of the mountain bike, the former professional athlete and pioneer is an icon of the bike scene and has been a guest at Eurobike for many years. The industry insider will be at the fair in Frankfurt this year as well, as part of the Gravel Talk on Thursday, 14 July and Saturday, 16 July, and to sign autographs.

Completing a triathlon is in itself already an impressive athletic feat that requires mastery of three endurance disciplines. German extreme athlete Jonas Deichmann took it up a notch in 2021: The Stuttgart-native was the first person to circumnavigate the globe in 430 days – by swimming, cycling, and running. His incredible journey led him through multiple climate zones and a global pandemic. At Eurobike, the brand ambassador of the komoot touring and navigation platform can be experienced live in the lecture programme.

The 30th Eurobike will be open every day from Wednesday, July 13, to Sunday, July 17, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Public days: Saturday and Sunday. Find out more at www.eurobike.com
