GM Defense Unveils Suburban Shield: A New Era in Diplomatic Security Vehicles

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 29, 2024 – In a significant development for U.S. diplomatic security efforts, GM Defense has completed production of the first vehicles in support of the U.S. State Department's Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) Heavy-Duty Armored Sport Utility Vehicle (HD SUV) program. The event was celebrated with key stakeholders, including Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security Gentry Smith, who visited GM Defense’s state-of-the-art Manufacturing and Customer Innovation Center in Concord, North Carolina, to mark the occasion.

GM Invests in Forge Nano to Enhance EV Battery Performance

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 29, 2024 – SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 29, 2024 – General Motors is investing $10 million in Forge Nano, Inc., a world-leading materials science company, to explore using cutting-edge technology to improve the performance of electric vehicle (EV) batteries.

GM Ventures, the automaker’s venture capital subsidiary, is making the investment. At the same time, GM and Forge Nano have entered a strategic partnership agreement to collaborate on new battery technologies.

“GM Ventures’ primary goal is to bring disruptive technology into the GM ecosystem to improve products and processes,” said Anirvan Coomer, managing director of GM Ventures. “Forge Nano’s Atomic Armor technology has game-changing potential for our battery materials. They have already demonstrated the ability to expand cathode capabilities, which is the most expensive battery cell component. This could unlock benefits for both customers and the business.”

General Motors President Mark Reuss achieved this milestone, reaching a remarkable speed of 233 mph on a test track in Germany. This feat sets a new top speed record unmatched by any other production car currently available for under $1 million.

The record-setting run took place at the High-Speed Oval Track at ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg, utilizing both the northbound and southbound straightaways.

First Retail Production 2025 Cadillac ESCALADE IQ EV Raises $550,000 for Detroit Children's Fund

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 29, 2024 – SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 29, 2024 – The first retail production 2025 Cadillac ESCALADE IQ EV was auctioned for $550,000 at the 2024 Detroit Grand Prix, with all proceeds benefiting the Detroit Children's Fund.

The nonprofit will receive the full amount raised for the vehicle, which was purchased by Michelle and Dan Gilbert.

“We are grateful to General Motors, Cadillac, and the Gilberts for this generous donation, which will help us continue our mission to improve educational equity in Detroit,” said Jack Elsey, executive director of the Detroit Children's Fund. “This gift will support our efforts to provide students with the resources they need to succeed in school and in life.”

Cadillac has been a strong supporter of the Detroit Children's Fund for many years. In 2023, the brand donated $1 million to the organization to support its work in providing educational opportunities for Detroit students.

GM Defense Showcases "Next Gen" Tactical Vehicle at AUSA 2024

With a single battery charge and 15 hours 42 minutes of pure driving time, they covered a total of 794 kilometers, exceeding the model's maximum WLTP range (combined) of up to 709 kilometers. The comfortable touring sedan was on public roads and in normal traffic flow throughout the entire journey.
