AAHOA Announces Key Leadership Promotions

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – Feb. 20, 2025 – The Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) has announced the promotions of Geetika Rana to Executive Vice President (EVP), Membership & Events, and Dennis Smith to EVP, Business Development. These promotions recognize their significant contributions to the organization and position AAHOA for continued growth and success.

Leadership's Vision for Growth

“Congratulations to Geetika and Dennis on their well-deserved promotions,” said Laura Lee Blake, president/CEO, AAHOA. “Geetika’s extensive experience with our members and events, combined with Dennis’s expertise in building strategic partnerships, will significantly enhance AAHOA’s ability to meet the evolving needs of our members. These leadership advancements position AAHOA for continued success in leading the hospitality industry forward.”

Geetika Rana's Expanded Role in Membership and Events

Rana has been a valuable member of the AAHOA team since 2012, most recently serving as Senior Vice President (SVP), Membership. Her deep understanding of the hospitality industry is rooted in her extensive experience, which includes prior roles as General Manager (GM) of two hotel properties. This hands-on experience provides her with a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing AAHOA members.

“I am honored to step into this role and continue serving AAHOA’s members, partners, and the broader hospitality industry,” she said. “Our members are the backbone of this association, and I look forward to growing and strengthening the community through enhanced programs, events and opportunities.” Rana's leadership will be instrumental in developing and implementing strategies to enhance member engagement and satisfaction.

Dennis Smith's Focus on Strategic Partnerships

Smith joined AAHOA in 2022 and has quickly made a significant impact. He most recently served as Vice President (VP), Business Development, where he demonstrated his ability to forge valuable relationships and create mutually beneficial partnerships. His promotion to EVP reflects his strategic vision and his commitment to driving growth for the organization.

“This is an exciting time for AAHOA and its partners,” Smith said. “I look forward to taking on this expanded leadership role and look forward to fostering stronger connections that bring value to our members and partners.” Smith's focus will be on expanding AAHOA’s network and creating new opportunities for its members.

Further Strengthening the Leadership Team

AAHOA also announced two additional promotions, further solidifying its leadership team:

  • Alyson Corey, formerly Senior Director, Conventions, has been promoted to Vice President, Conventions.
  • Frederick Thompson, formerly Senior Director, Finance & Strategic Planning, has been promoted to Vice President, Finance & Strategic Planning.

Blake expressed her enthusiasm for these promotions as well: “I am thrilled about the promotions of Alyson and Frederick,” Blake said. “Alyson’s dedication to delivering exceptional conventions and Frederick’s strategic financial expertise will further strengthen AAHOA’s efforts to lead the hospitality industry into the future.”
