SHERIDAN, WYOMING – Feb. 18, 2025 – Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG) has reopened the View, the iconic revolving restaurant, bar, and lounge spanning two floors of the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square.
A Panoramic Dining Experience
The 48th-floor bar and lounge completes a full 360-degree rotation every 45 minutes, while the main dining room, one level below, moves at a slightly slower pace, rotating once per hour—ensuring guests experience the Manhattan skyline from every perspective. Reemerging nearly five years after its last service, USHG partnered with Rockwell Group to reintroduce the View as a warm, celebratory dining experience that pays homage to Midtown’s energy and allure.
Rockwell Group’s Redesign: A Stage with a View
Following a full-scale renovation, the refreshed space, which features branding and logo design courtesy of Goodrich, nods to its 1985 origins while embracing a new era of hospitality. The View is envisioned as both a stage and a viewing platform. Influenced by the surrounding Theater District, the design features rich burl wood, shimmering Venetian plaster, faceted antique mirrors, and deep velvet blue drapery reminiscent of stage curtains.
A Symphony of Movement and Light
On both floors, a series of overlapping concentric circles on the ceiling provides ever-changing points of reference as the restaurant slowly rotates, mirroring the constant movement taking place on the streets below. Two finishes of metallic paint—one matte and one reflective—add depth and luminosity as well.
A Culinary Revival
“The View’s mission is simple: to capture the lively energy of Broadway’s Theater District showcasing a familiar American menu whose dishes are even better than you ever knew they could be,” says USHG founder and executive chairman Danny Meyer. “It’s your new ‘night out on the town’ where the floor just happens to rotate.”
A Theatrical Ambiance
Rockwell Group’s redesign of the View emphasizes the theatricality of the space. The rich textures and materials create a warm and inviting atmosphere, while the strategic use of mirrors and lighting enhances the panoramic views. The deep velvet blue drapery adds a touch of drama, reminiscent of the stage curtains in the nearby Theater District. The grand piano and the carefully curated art panels contribute to the overall ambiance, creating a sophisticated and memorable dining experience.
The Rotating Experience: A Unique Perspective
The View's unique rotating design offers a constantly changing perspective of the Manhattan skyline. The gradual movement of the restaurant allows guests to appreciate the city's iconic landmarks from every angle, creating a dynamic and engaging dining experience. The overlapping concentric circles on the ceiling serve as a visual counterpoint to the rotation, adding another layer of visual interest to the space.
A Culinary Destination in Times Square

The partnership between Union Square Hospitality Group and Rockwell Group has resulted in a space that is both sophisticated and welcoming, capturing the energy and excitement of the Theater District.
