Record number of exhibitors and visitors at ITB Asia 2019

On 18 October 2019 the most successful ITB Asia since its debut 12 years ago came to an end with more than 1,300 exhibitors and over 13,000 visitors from 132 countries and regions. Record attendance at ITB Asia 2019: from 16 to 18 October 2019, with 1,300 exhibitors and more than 1,250 buyers in attendance, Asia’s leading travel trade show was the most successful in its 12-year history. Over 27,000 business appointments were made ahead of the show, a 7.4 per cent increase compared with last year. Overall, with more than 13,000 visitors from 132 countries and territories, attendance at the B2B show was higher than ever.

Students at the PATA Youth Symposium in Kazakhstan received valuable tips and gained insights into the world of tourism At the PATA Youth Symposium on 18 September 2019 in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, the participants learned how stories connect people all over the world. On day one of the PATA Travel Mart 2019, under the heading ’From Beginning to End: How Stories Connect Us’, 190 attendees from 11 educational establishments in Almaty and Nur-Sultan as well as international students from Malaysia, India and Canada took part in discussions.

A new customer perception of luxury was one of the main topics at this year’s ITB Berlin Convention. Instead of ’bling bling’, the latest trend is exclusiveness. Around the world a number of hotels are fully catering to these demands. Here are some of the most beautiful: The Manta Resort on Pemba Island off the coast of Tanzania is synonymous with the idea of seclusion. Guests reside in luxurious rooms on land, or can choose floating accommodation directly on the water. The highlight is an underwater bedroom surrounded day and night by colourful fish.

Muscat – perfect juxtaposition of old and new

The charm of the Orient has been preserved in the capital of Oman. Muscat is different. In the capital of Oman it is not skyscrapers with their sleek architecture that set the tone, but buildings of no more than eight stories, many in historical styles. The picture is completed by ultra-modern structures – hospitals, malls, administrative and office buildings, the only opera house in the Gulf States, and the capital city’s new airport, which opened in March 2018.

Palau wins the ITB Earth Award

The Micronesian island country is a pioneer in terms of quality, environmental protection and sustainability in tourism. As of 2020 Palau will be the first tourist destination to ban the sale and use of sunscreen products containing toxic chemicals. The Pacific island paradise of Palau is a pioneer where sustainability and environmental protection are concerned. At this year’s ITB Berlin the island nation was presented with the coveted ITB Earth Award for its exemplary commitment to protecting the environment. In 2009 Palau set an example by creating the world’s first shark sanctuary and in 2015 it pledged to protect large areas of the ocean from overfishing.

Messe Berlin appoints Indo-German Chamber of Commerce as event organiser of inaugural ITB India

The new annual trade show for India’s outbound travel market kicks off at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai on 15 to 17 April 2020/  Travel leaders to tackle industry issues at ITB India Conference Messe Berlin, one of the top ten trade fair and event organisers worldwide, is pleased to announce its cooperation with the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) for organising the inaugural ITB India for the year 2020. The cooperation was formalised in Berlin, Germany, by Dirk Hoffmann, Chief Financial Officer of Messe Berlin, Dr. Martin Buck, Senior Vice President, Travel & Logistics, Messe Berlin and Bernhard Steinrücke, Director General of IGCC.

B Berlin has started selling tickets for the first Travel Film Night in late summer Curtain up for the urge to travel: With the Travel Film Night by ITB the world’s leading travel trade show is celebrating a movie premiere. “On the path of hidden gems” on the evening of 3 September features travel videos made by enthusiastic travelholics and aimed at like-minded people. This cinematic event is taking place outdoors at Berlin’s popular Rehberge open-air cinema. Audiences can look forward to two and a half hours of movie enjoyment in delightful surroundings.
